If there’s any couple that looks made for each other, it’s got to be Aishwarya and Abhishek. Even the snarkiest cynic won’t be able to pick out a single chink in their perfect marriage. Not a stray incident of the ‘roving eye’; not a spat that became known to the media; no complex on the part of Abhi for his wife being more famous than him. Nothing but love has prevailed between the duo and this wedding anniversary is all the more special because they are with their lovely five-month-old daughter Aaradhya.
Recapping the Ash-Abhi love story: Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan first met in 1999 and got acquainted while filming Dhai Akshar Prem Ke. But love sprouted between them years later, when they worked together for a special song ‘Kajra Re’ in Bunty Aur Babli, followed by three films in quick succession: Umrao Jaan, Dhoom 2 and Guru. It was on 12 January 2007, after the premiere of Guru in Toronto that Abhishek proposed to Aishwarya and she accepted. Losing no time, the couple got engaged on 14th Jan and married on April 20, 2007. Their first child, a daughter, was born in November, 2011.
