No pants on January 8? No problem. The No Pants Subway Ride will invade subway stations in cities across the globe for another year of pantsless public transportation, courtesy of Improv Everywhere.
The NYC-based prank collective lives up to their motto, "We Cause Scenes," during the annual event. Originally shocking traveling New Yorkers in 2002, the ride now drops jaws in dozens of cities. The event's idea is "simple," says Improv Everywhere. "Random passengers board a subway car at separate stops in the middle of winter without pants. The participants do not behave as if they know each other, and they all wear winter coats, hats, scarves, and gloves. The only unusual thing is their lack of pants."
The new year's ride is the 11th annual day without britches, and the below 48 cities (as of now) are participating. We are proud to announce that 7 of our 9 "ist" cities have pledged to drop trou this Sunday. Brace yourselves, L.A. Metro riders.
Adelaide, Amsterdam, Ann Arbor, Atlanta, Austin, Barcelona, Berlin, Boston, Brisbane, Buenos Aires, Calgary, Chicago, Cleveland, Copenhagen, Dallas, Hamburg, Houston, Jerusalem, Las Vegas, London, Los Angeles, Madrid, Manchester, Mexico City, Miami, Milan, Minneapolis, New York, Olso, Phoenix, Portland, Porto, Prague, Prescott, Salt Lake City, San Francisco, Seattle, St. Louis, Stockholm, Sydney, Tel Aviv, Taipei, Toronto, Vancouver, Vienna, Warsaw, Washington, DC and Zürich.
