Raj Shekhar Singhania
Raj Shekhar is the second born son of the family. He was barely seven years old when his parents passed away, and ten years old when Bhabhi Maa came to this house as a bride. He vividly remembers how Mahendra Pratap sacrificed everything, including his college education, for the sake of his younger brother and how Bhabhi Maa never let him feel the absence of a mother. An educated and learned man himself, at times he does not totally agree with the strict rules and regulations imposed by his brother but follows his orders nonetheless. Gayatri proved to be a good wife and an understanding partner to him.
Gayatri Singhania
Gayatri came as the second bahu of the house. Though a positive soul at heart and a good human being, she soon faced an identity crisis as a woman when she saw that everything in the house was centred around Bhabhi Maa. She also realised that the only way to get a little ahead of Bhabhi Maa in this house is to gain brownie points from Mahendra Pratap. God dropped this opportunity in her lap as she was blessed with a son, an heir, for whom Mahendra Pratap was pining. Hence Gayatri got more importance simply by being the mother of a son, something that Bhabhi Maa could never be!
Then came Akshara. With her son falling in love with his wife, Gayatri feels highly insecure about her son having another woman in his life who he is probably getting closer to than he is to his mom. With the birth of Naksh, she wants to exercise more rights on her grandson, than she allows Akshara to. She is unwilling to lose her reins over Naitik and Naksh feeling that Akshara cannot fulfil her duties well.

Rashmi is Naitik's younger sister. She is a typical dreamy eyed teenager who lives and breathes Yash Chopra movies. Everything in her life is filmy, all the situations are melodramatic. She is a very positive and optimistic person who always guides Akshara in all situations.

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (Hindi: तारक मेहता का उल्टा चश्मा; English: Taarak Mehta's Upside Down Glasses) is a sitcom that airs on SAB TV. The show was first aired on 28 July 2008. The air-time of the show is from Monday to Friday at 8.30 p.m IST.[1] The show is produced by Neela Telefilms and the series writers are Raju Odedra and Rajan Upadhyay. The show and its title are based on the column Duniya Ne Undha Chasma (Gujarati: દુનિયાને ઉંધા ચશ્મા) (which loosely translates into "Seeing the world through upside-down glasses") written by Indian columnist and journalist Taarak Mehta for the Gujarati weekly magazine Chitralekha.[2] On 6th February 2012, the show completed 800 episodes.[3]
In August 2010, it beat Baalika Vadhu to become the most watched TV show in India. It has often been noted for its frequent references to issues of social importance in the country and its positive approach towards the problems faced by the society.[4] Lauded performances by its lead and supporting actors alike have also contributed in making the show a success.[5] The set of Gokuldham society is an outdoor set of wooden walls attached on the real flats located in Dada Saheb Phalke Filmcity. The sets are having balconies and the back buildings are hidden by a sheet. The indoor houses of characters are created in different studios in Filmcity. The set was completed only in two months. Producer Asitkumarr Modi spent a huge sum of money to construct the set.
Plot
The serial is based on the happenings of Gokuldham Society and the day-to-day life of its members. The Gokuldham society is like an ideal mix of India's social fabric in Goregaon, Mumbai. In the society, they have Gujarati, Marathi, Punjabi, Bihari, South Indian, Bengali, Parsi people living together in harmony.
The story mainly revolves around Jethalal Champaklal Gada and his family. Jethalal is a successful businessman and runs an electronic store "Gada Electronics" in Andheri, Mumbai. His wife, Daya Jethalal Gada, is an uneducated, my-family-is-everything kind of woman. They have a son Tipendra Jethalal Gada (Tapu), who is smart but very naughty and is the leader of society's children brigade "Tapu Sena". Champaklal Jayantilal Gada, father of Jethalal is an ideal man in his late sixties, religious and often scolds Jethalal when he disrespects Daya. Daya's brother, Sundarlal, creates problems for Jethalal—which is often humorous. Jethalal also has a innocent crush on Babita, who in reality is the wife of Shri Krishnan Iyer. He frequently makes plans to travel to exotic places with Babita.
Taarak Mehta, is a writer by profession and is the narrator of the show. His wife, Anjali Taarak Mehta, is a dietician and feeds her husband only with diet-rich foods such as freshly prepared bitter-gourd juice and khichdi. Whenever Jethalal is in a problem, Taarak Mehta acts as his "Fire Brigade". Jethalal is a good friend of Taarak Mehta.
The Marathi family, Bhide's consists of Aatmaram Tukaram Bhide, his wife Madhavi Aatmaram Bhide, and their daughter Sonu Aatmaram Bhide. Aatmaram is a teacher by profession and is also the secretary of the society. He has a love-hate relationship with Jethalal. He never leaves a chance to complain about the mischief's of Tapu and his child brigade. His wife is a home-based businesswoman who makes "achaar" and "paapad" to sell and make money.
The Iyer family consist of Krishnan Subrahmaniam Iyer and his wife Babita Krishnan Iyer. Krishnan Iyer is a well-known scientist and his wife Babita is from Kolkata. While Krishnan Iyer's complexion is dark, Babita, however, is milky-white. Jethalal often flirts with Babita ji, but every time his efforts come to naught because of her husband. So, he (Krishnan Iyer) always looks for a reason to settle scores and get back at Jethalal Gada.
The Sodhi family, the Sodhi's are a pair of Punjabi husband and Parsi wife. Theirs is a love marriage, Roshan Singh Ajit Singh Sodhi, is a garage owner and is a happy-go-lucky person and also aggressive for those who mess with him. Mrs. Roshan Kaur Roshan Singh Sodhi is a housewife with a pleasant personality. They have a son, Gurucharan Singh Roshan Singh Sodhi(Gogi), who is the youngest to all the children of the society and a member of Tapu Sena.
The Hathi family, Dr.Hansraj Hathi, is a doctor who is morbidly obese, but still fond of eating. His wife, Komal Hansraj Hathi, is a housewife and tries to keep a check on her husband's and son Goli Hansraj Hathi's eating habits.
The other funny characters of the show are Popatlal Pandey a.k.a. Patrakar Popatlal, a journalist from Toofan Express who also resides in the society. He is very cynical and demands everything to be cancelled, with the tag lines "cancel kardo" and "duniya hila doonga." He always keeps a umbrella with him. Born on 29th Ferbuary
Natwarlal Prabhashankar Udaywala a.k.a. Nattu Kaka, the employee in Jethalal's Electronic shop. He constantly demands that his salary should be increased.Bageshwar Darukh Udaywala a.k.a. Baga is Nattu Kaka's nephew and Jethalal's employee. He is funny and creates problems in Jethalal's life.
In the evenings, all the men in the society meet after dinner at the shop nearby the society for their regular drink of soda, the shop is run by Abdul, who is a simple person and is like a member of the society. A news reporter named Rita Sharma is also the member of the society, who always helps the ladies and children. She works as a correspondent for the News channel "Kal Tak" (parody to a real Hindi News channel named Aaj Tak). There is always a fight between Popatlal (Print journalist) and Rita (Television news reporter), as they both think of their media as superior to the other. There is another boy named Pinku Diwan, who lives alone and his parents are never shown in the show and are assumed to be working abroad.
All the ladies of the society are good friends and do their grocery and other shopping together. They also organise Kitty Party when they want to discuss or celebrate something.
